When teaching a child it is best to teach them in stages.  In doing so they do not become overwhelmed with learning.  In teaching they have milestones. This is a great fundamental situation.  When they reach the milestones they have mastered a portion of reading.  Having it this way keeps up there momentom and allows them to press forward knowing they have and will continue to work dilligently and master reading on a broader scale.
